A Vibrant & Spiritually
Empowered African Community
Who We Are
Nurturing leaders, building communities, and expanding spiritual education across the African continent.
The Call
What We Believe
At Science of Mind Africa (SOMA), we believe every person is an individualized expression of the Divine, already whole and filled with infinite possibility. As we awaken to our Oneness with the Divine, we discover the power to live consciously, serve compassionately, and transform our lives and communities.
The Action
Mission
At Science of Mind Africa (SOMA), we believe every person is an individualized expression of the Divine, already whole and filled with infinite possibility. As we awaken to our Oneness with the Divine, we discover the power to live consciously, serve compassionately, and transform our lives and communities.
The Values That
Guide Our Leadership
SOMA's Leadership Values
Our leadership team prayerfully identified the values that guide how we serve one another, make decisions, and steward SOMA's mission throughout Africa.
“We lead with character, serve through relationships, and sustain our work through spiritual consciousness.”
Integrity
Leaders uphold truth in all dealings — internal and external — maintaining alignment between values, words, and actions at all times.
Authenticity
Every leader is encouraged to find and use their voice. Self-suppression and self-judgement have no place in SOMA leadership. Authentic expression strengthens community trust.
Love
“Does this let Love lead?” — Love is the foundational currency of SOMA leadership. All decisions, interactions, and initiatives are filtered through this core question.
Responsibility
Leadership responsibility encompasses teamwork, accountability, trustworthiness, consistent presence, and the spirit of sacred service. Showing up — reliably and wholeheartedly — is a core expectation.
Abundance
Leaders trust in life's inherent generosity. This means cultivating a giving mindset over a scarcity mindset, and modelling abundance in resource allocation, recognition, and encouragement.
Patience
Patience is a spiritual discipline for leaders — recognizing that transformation, growth, and community trust are built over time, not overnight.

Our Story
From Vision to Vibration
Science of Mind Africa (SOMA) was born from a vision that Science of Mind teachings could grow beyond one country and become a source of spiritual empowerment across the African continent. During visioning for the 2024 Science of Mind conference, many participants saw Kenya as a pulsing heart sending waves of spiritual awakening throughout Africa. That image stayed alive as a call to expand the teaching beyond Kenya and into a wider African context.
In January 2025, that call became clear. After prayer and deep listening in the early hours of the morning, Michele Taylor LSP, received the inspiration to begin what was first called the East Africa Science of Mind Study Group. By the next morning, the process had begun. As conversations unfolded with African leaders and students, it became clear that the vision was larger than East Africa alone. The name evolved into Science of Mind Africa (SOMA)—a name that reflected both the breadth of the vision and the commitment to growing an African-led spiritual community rooted in Science of Mind principles.
SOMA officially became a Science of Mind Study Group on April 15, 2025, and continued to grow quickly through translation projects, classes, leadership development, and community outreach. By November 2025, SOMA had become an official Centers for Spiritual Living Teaching Chapter. What began as a spiritual idea has become a living movement—dedicated to teaching, translating, and sharing Science of Mind across Africa while nurturing empowered leaders, thriving communities, and a deeper experience of spiritual freedom.
Current Focus
SOMA Today
There is much to look forward to as SOMA continues to grow. We are teaching classes, holding in person and Zoom Meet-Ups, Teen Girl's Camp, Woke Mtaa (Young Men's group) Camp, and have just started our Thursday Series of talks, meditations, journaling, Life Stories, and more.
As SOMA continues to grow, new pathways for healing, connection, and spiritual education are opening across Africa. We are preparing to launch both a Grief Support Group and a Women's Group while expanding our translation and creative work, including the recording of our first Science of Mind song in Kiswahili, There Is Only Love. To date, SOMA has translated multiple full books into Kiswahili (including works by Ernest Holmes, Eric Butterworth, and John Price Waterhouse), along with multiple archival pamphlets.
Our community continues to deepen and expand, with many active members in our WhatsApp communities. Our next area of expansion is Nanyuki, in Kenya's Rift Valley near Mount Kenya, where we look forward to nurturing new connections, supporting emerging leaders, and sharing the transformative principles of Science of Mind.
We invite you to join us as SOMA continues to grow across Africa—expanding spiritual education, nurturing leaders, and building communities rooted in spiritual truth, empowerment, and transformation.
